What kind of people does this website serve?
Buffy & Spike Diaries exclusively serves anyone who
is interested in the B/S relationship and is at least above the
age of 13. We don't welcome anyone who is below 13 to
read our site, and we strongly suggest
any reader who is under 17 to strictly obey the censor rules.
Once we found out someone is breaching the rules via other means
of communication we will take actions, including sending out warning
letters and blocking partial access based on IP address. We hate
to do such things (and we doubt the effects too), but this is a
way to keep us from legal trouble. TOP

How
often do you update your website?
We update daily on fictions. For articles and reports we update 3
times a week. Other works have no certain update cycle since we need
gather up to a certain amount before publishing on the website. There
are at least one staff on duty on each day to ensure there is no delay.
For staff schedules please refer to About Us
section by clicking Guides on the menu
panel. TOP

Why the number of stories
and authors do not match with the old site?
When we switch the system, we also changed the way of calculating
stories. Many series stories with multiple parts, originally were
considered multiple stories, now is counted as one single story. Further
more, we separated poems from fictions and sort them under Extras.
So the numbers will be very different from the old site. TOP

I have a great suggestion
for BSD, can you listen to me and make changes?
Yes, of course. We have experienced technical staff to accomplish
system changes on any scale. As long as the suggestion is feasible
and good for BSD's future enhancement, we are more than happy to take
your suggestion and improve our system. Please feel free to use our
Service Desk for any kind of comments
and suggestions. TOP

How can I support this website?
Currently, we don't need to rely on any sorts of financial donations
to pay our server. However, a little bit of help from other sides
is always welcomed. You can support us by spreading the good word
about us to other online communities, or even better, to shop our
sponsored online stores (coming soon...) directly from BSD and giving
us a chance to serve you better (contests, sweepstakes..etc.).TOP
|
To register or not to register....?
If you are a reader who just want to read stories, articles and enjoy
other goodies, you don't need to register with us. If you are a writer
who wants to submit works to us, registration is required. Please
note that submission is required for all registered members. If
you register with us and don't submit anything within 2 months, your
account will be deleted from our system. Authors carried
from the old BSD site are exceptions.TOP

What
do you need my "Age Group" data for?
It is for statistical use only. We wanted to find out exactly what
group of people are using our service, so we can adjust our marketing
strategy and management to serve you better. We will not (and can
not) use this data to against you from reading or submiting entries
outside your age group. TOP
|
Do I need to register another
time to use the forum?
Yes. Since the forum is open to both readers and writers, we use separate
memberships for each system.Further more, to prevent system failure
and traffic overload, we located our forum on the secondary server
so even when this site is down, you can still use our forum. TOP

What kind of works should
I submit?
Anything concentrates on the positive side of B/S is welcomed. But
please be careful on the following types of works: We review essays
and scripts from a rather professional point of view, so essays
written with subjective nouns such as "I", "we"...etc.
is no longer suitable for publishing. Further more we
don't accept any manip fanart involving cutting someone's face and
pasting it onto another person's body. Entries carried
from the old site are exceptions. TOP
|
Do you own the rights of
the works featured here?
No. All works belong to their original
creators, and we don't have any rights or responsibilities over the
events or effects caused by them. On special occassions,
we might acquire limited rights for reproduction on certain works
via contests and/or projects. Those entries will be clearly marked
with detailed information. Authors will be notified for further discussion.

How should I rate my story
based on BSD's standards?
At first ask yourself if your work has any violence or sex scene written
in explcit details. If yes, consider it NC17 or X. if not, you are
in R and G-PG13. Now for adult ratings, ask yourself if there will
be anything makes your reader uncomfortable to read, such things include
but not limited to incest, physical and verbal abuse during sex, or
graphic descriptions on extreme violence. If not, mark your entry
NC17, else it is a X rating. For general ratings, the key difference
is whether or not there are sex scenes or blood scenes. If not you
can give it a P-PG13, otherwise give it a R.
Your rating will provide a factor for consideration. Our editor will
re-rate your story after review if necessary. TOP
|
What are "Categories" for
and how should I pick them for my story?
They are there to provide your story maximum exposure under story
search. BSD uses a multiple category system instead of a single category
system, so you can list your story up to 3 different categories. When
people are searching stories, your story has triple chance to show
up.
Pick whatever categories you think your stories fit best. Beware that
if you pick too many, the system will only take the first three picked
based on alphabetical order. If you don't know which one to pick,
we suggest you pick Drama - General Romance. Please
do NOT pick Drama - General Romance together with Drama - Dark / Angst.

Is HTML supported in the
submission system?
Since we use a complicated coding structure for our website, misplaced
HTML tags may cause severe program failure in the system. To lower
this risk we provide limited UBB tags support instead of HTML, so
you can submit your story with bold, underline and/or
italic effects. TOP
|
I am not over 17 yet, can
I submit NC17 stories?
We can not control your submission in any way or decide your story
solely based on your age. Please ask yourself first if you should
do such things before submission. (Honestly we barely see any NC17
stories written by under-aged writers have good entertainment and/or
literal value.) TOP

I am not a Buffy/Spike fan,
can I submit my works?
Yes you can. Although we are a supporter group for this ship,
that does not mean we don't listen to different voices. However, for
fictions, poems and fanarts, the central theme must support Buffy/Spike
and Buffy/Spike only. Our rules on articles are relatively
loose. As long as you state your mind objectively in a professional
written manner, we will consider featuring your entry. Note: You
can not submit any entry to against B/S as a supporter of another
ship. That means, if you are against B/S because you love
B/A or B/X, this website is not the place for you. Abuse will not
be tolerated. TOP

The editor made some mistakes
on my story... they are not supposed to be read like that.
Please contact us and we will correct them as you requested as soon
as possible. TOP
|
What
is "counter-welcomed" marked after an article?
All articles featured on BSD has points of views over certain issues
or facts. Sometimes people will not agree with those views and have
other opinions. At BSD we respect all kinds of opinions and encourage
different voices to be heard and read. So if a topic is worthy of
debating, we will open the chance for writers to debate with each
other by writing counter articles with facts to support their opinions
- as long as the debate is polite and free of personal insults and/or
verbal attacks. TOP |
I saw some stories were
featured last night, but now they are gone. Why?
When an editor update stories, they show up on this site instantly
so sometimes he/she might make mistakes, like uploaded declined stories,
get the wrong author name...etc. Therefore, readers have a possibility
to see a story up for several hours and later either get replaced
or edited out. The chance for this to happen is higher at night after
10pm, PST. TOP

I am a parent, and my kids
are visiting this website...

not suitable for their age, please contact us as soon as possible
so we can prevent that from happening again. However,
what we can do is limited and please understand it is more of a client-side
responsibility to read anything from a clearly rated website.
We are more than glad to help you and your kids, so please talk to
us allow us to have a space for survival. TOP

I wanted to exchange links
with BSD...
Please contact Service for details on
links. Currently we only add links by staff recommendation and/or
invitation. Many links on the old site are not working anymore and
we removed them to give BSD a cleaner look. TOP
|
Do you have openings for
staff members?
We do need a few extra hands on both editing and technical side. If
you are interested in working for us, please email Tech
Support for details. Note: All works are voluntary and non-profit
based, we are unable to pay any staff members. TOP

What kind of scripts you
are using for BSD? I want my site to be like this too, can you help?
BSD is not using any kind of public released scripts. All functions
featured are custom-developed as part of the BSD system by Amura,
tested by Ben and
the editing team. The backbone for this site is made
of MySQL database and PHP running on Redhat Linux. Programs are coded
on a PC with Win98 and TextPad. If you have a well-established website
needs a boost on the technical side, we are willing to help. For details
please contact us . TOP
